A Chat About My Favorite Flowers
What's your favorite flower? I found myself pondering this as I was changing the wallpaper on my phone. I looked at a picture of a lily I took when my husband gave me some lilies for Mother's Day. They were really beautiful, which is why I took pictures of them. Now, they're the wallpaper on my phone.
Then I remembered that, for some people, lilies are often seen as a condolence flower. I find that really odd because they smell and look really nice. But I suppose it's appropriate for a funeral if you want the room to smell nice.
Recently, I had an opportunity to visit a perfumery shop. I think in Paris, it's quite popular. Apparently, in Indonesia, it's also popular in the bigger cities. I'd never been to one before, so it was my first time. I thought, OK, what do we do? There are all these different mixes of notes you can blend together. You've got your base, your main scent, and then the after-scent. Sorry, I don't know the exact terminology, but from what I understand, it's like the initial smell when you first spray, the one you smell regularly, and then the scent that lingers for hours.
I realized I quite like jasmine because I've smelled jasmine flowers as I walk in the park. I always wish my garden had jasmine so it would always smell nice. I know how hard it is to grow lilies. Then I came across this flower called silang-silang, and I thought, oh wow, that's really nice. It made me wonder if silang-silang is related to jasmine because they smell similar.
Oh, and I thought about sunflowers. They're really nice but don't have any smell. I often picture myself as a flower personality being a sunflower because I feel like a big, bright expression, and I do like the sun. But yeah, sunflowers don't have a smell. There's also a flower called kambodja in Malay, which has quite a nice smell as well.
