Child Logic Vocabulary

We were in a bookshop the other day, and my son pointed to a book and said, "This is not a true book." So, I asked him, "What do you mean it's not a true book?" I was puzzled because to me it was a normal book (not a board or plastic sheet book) and it had words and pictures just like any other childrens books.

Then he responded saying it doesn't have any "explain"; "it's just pictures, so it's not a true book". Now I realise for him, a true book has sentences.

That got me thinking about other things he described from his point of view that I found puzzling but logical.

A couple of years ago he said what he wanted for lunch, "I want wet cheese." My first reaction was 'you want me to sprinkle some water on it or have cheese in soup?' Then I realized he meant: melted cheese.

When you think about it, melted cheese does look wet due to the oil that comes to the surface. And also it flows down the food for a few seconds before it hardens again.

Another time he asked for "mountain egg." My first thought was sunny side up and after serving him it, he was furious that he was served "volcano egg" instead. What is the difference between volcano egg and mountain egg??!!

When he further described "you have to break the shell and the egg is white and tall like a mountain", I realised he meant boiled eggs.
