What do you do for your me time? I've been reflecting on this a lot, especially since becoming a mother. I remember when a close colleague—who I considered a friend—told me to look after myself first. My first thought was, 'How could I?' I had a baby, a sick mom, and a sick husband to care for. How was I supposed to put myself first? If I were to focus on myself, I'd want to sleep first and maybe stroll around the mall. But those things seemed far down the list of priorities with three people relying on me.

My son was just a baby, my husband's family was on the other side of the world, and my mom's family was distant due to her illness. They didn’t quite understand it, which I get because I felt the same way before I developed more empathy.

As time passed, things eased up. My mom got into a rhythm with the help of neighbors, and I didn't have to check in all the time. My husband fully recovered after a few months, and my son grew older. I found some time for myself and decided to invest it into a business. Initially, my business partner said I had to prove my worth without an assistant. I understood the need to contribute and pay my dues.

Fast forward two and a half years, I felt accomplished. The business reached a point where assistants and employees could run it without my full-time involvement, thanks to both my efforts and my partner's. I was so burnt out, so I took a forced vacation. During that time, I thought about what I truly wanted. Many people struggle with having time but no money, or money but no time. Over the years, I've managed to create both for myself.

On this vacation, I finally had me time. I spent about 80 hours in 3 weeks just reading—yes, 80 hours—only then I felt content. I didn’t feel like I was catching up; I simply enjoyed it. Afterward, I wondered what to do next, and the idea of blogging came to me. I wanted to start 'Overwork Mums' to share my experiences. Even if nobody reads it, that's okay. It's about putting it out there, and if it resonates with anyone, that's great. If not, that's perfectly fine too. I'm just here to share.
