When I did that post about walking in the morning, I suddenly had a thought after publishing it. The voice in my head went, "oh yeah, if you're so overworked, how come you have time to go for walks in the morning? Most people have no time to exercise at all, let alone exercise before their day starts!"

Then it realised—actually, the morning exercises I mentioned mostly happened more than two years ago when I was still working full-time because my office day didn't start until 9am and at that point, his daycare opened at 7:30am, so I would drop him off then have an hour and a half before I had to be in the office. I would get about half an hour or so to do a quick exercise in the morning.

I always thought that once I was full-time employed for myself, I'd have more time to exercise, but that's a fantasy thought! Anybody who owns a business knows that you only get out what you put in. It seems like an easier life because you have that time flexibility, but there's a lot more blurred boundaries and mental brain space that gets taken up compared to when you have a job. Constant thinking about future from all the different aspects of the business: operations, financial, people, sales, etc.

For me, the term "overworked" is subjective. Anyone can feel that they're overworked, even if they don't have a job. They might be "only a housewife". There are overworked housewives out there because they're taking care of so many things. It's not just about a job and children. There's a lot going on in every mom's life. So overworked is a subjective term, and I feel everybody deserves to feel it no matter what exactly are their roles and responsibilities, instead of thinking they shouldn't because others have it harder. Yes, there are other moms who have it harder, but you can still feel like life is tough without needing to have the hardest life.

This Overworked Moms site is for every overworked mom out there. No matter who you are, it's a place to express yourself, find support, relief, acceptance. A question I'm still sitting with: how can moms be kinder to themselves?
